Cost of Marriage and Divorce

Research from Economic Professors at Emory University have found that cost of wedding to have a correlation with the rate of divorce. They have found that weddings that cost $20,000.00 or more are 3.5 times more likely to end in divorce than marriages that cost lower. Is there causal connection or is this just a coincidence?
