One of the top reasons for divorce is abuse in a relationship. Abuse deteriorates the confidence, mind, and body of the one that the abuse is inflicted upon. Sadly, most people in abusive relationships blame themselves for the abuse and are not able to see the perpetrator as the abuser.
Renee Mayne in her article lists ten warning signs of a partner who is abusive. Abusive partners:
1) Control their partner’s life, including their clothes, finances, and daily routines;
2) Insult and humiliate their partner and candidly point out their ‘flaws’;
3) Accuse their partners for cheating on them or doing something they did not do;
4) Give conditional love, that is, are loving only if their partners do as told;
5) Avoid deep conversations or conversations in general;
6) Blackmail and make threats;
7) Cheat on their partners and flaunt it to hurt their partners;
8) Use sarcasm as a weapon to hurt;
9) Have mood swings; and
10) Make their partners feel worthless.
