Parents generally feel helpless in alleviating the anxiety of their children associated with school. About seventy percent of children suffer from back-to-school anxiety. In light of the same, we would like to discuss an article that provides tips for easing children’s anxiety. The tips offered in the article are as follows:
1) scheduling a tour with the new teacher to build familiarity before school reopens;
2)Â preparing and handing over a one-page profile of children to teachers and staff at school;
3) during summer break, taking children to the school grounds or the bus stop that the children will be using during school to help build confidence and reduce anxiety;
4) obtaining a school calendar/ timetable and posting it where the children can see it; and
5) get the children back on school bedtime routine before re-opening of school.
